European Getaway Day 11 (26-11-2006)

Rome to Venice

I woke up late this morning and had to pack and then rush to breaky hmm I wonder why? On our way to Venice we stopped at Verona where Romeo and Juliet were set. We all got to touch Juliets’ boobs it was a special moment in every boy’s life and we also saw the famous balcony. Verona was a really nice little town; kinda looked like a movie, happy families eating ice cream, kids with balloons, people walking really good looking interesting dogs, but unfortunately we didn’t get to spend 2 long there I think it was only an hour all up. We didn’t see much else on this day as it was a big drive day.

We arrived at the camp site and found out that the cabins were exactly the same as the ones in Rome. Only one difference mine and Kierans 3rd bed was broken and we had to get the guy from reception to fix it for us. Otherwise we could not use the mirror that well (its all about how you look people).

That night for dinner we had carbonara pasta which was really yummy. One of the Korean girls, Helen was having her birthday and because we sat outside for dinner a bird pooed on her twice. The second time was just after she had come back from washing her hair from the first bird. After dinner it was back to our cabins to get ready for the Toga party. The girls decided not to go but instead do a load of washing. Which is another story in itself. I was going to go to the toga party but as it started at 11 I thought I would have a nap first and well never actually got up again. But I heard it was a good night. Apparently at the Toga party the bar man was pouring Vodka into peoples mouth and little innocent birthday girl Helen grabbed the bottle of Vodka from the barman and skulled approx a quarter of the bottle….the Aussies had truly corrupted this poor Korean girl.

Kieran’s washing story:
Me and the girls decided we were going to have an early night and Sam and I went to do some washing. We found some washing machines that were turned off and so plugged them into the sockets and put in money and turned them on. They had a timer on them which was handy and it counted down from 40mins. So me and Sam are happily sitting there chatting having a glass of wine while our clothes are being washed when the machine stopped, we pushed a button and it started again. Again we went back to chatting etc the machine stopped again only after about 5mins. So we opened the lid and realized the clothes were not even wet and that the water was disconnected from the machines. Us being the clever girls we are (both also registered nurses) we thought we would connect the water to the machines and so we did and started them again. Again the bloody things stopped and they were still dry. We then went and spoke to reception he explained that these machines were all disconnected because it was low season and there was another washing room down the path. The machines had taken our money so the guy said I would have to come back in the morning to get a refund. Then we went and got more money but it was a note and so had to get coins from the bar. We then found the proper machines and started the whole process again. AAHHHH I also had to get up at about 1230am to put the clothes in the dryers so they would be dry by the morning. So it took me and Sam about 4hrs to complete our washing, so much for an early night. You think something would have clicked with either of us when we realized not only did we have to plug the machines in to power points and turn them on but also hook up the water helllooo! Scary that we both give people medication for a living isn’t it. Oh well we had a good old laugh at our midnight DIY plumbing course.
