Amsterdam to London (The Netherlands to England)
The final day started well with me waking up at 7:30 somehow I had turned off my alarm and went back to bed. When I did wake up Yo said we have enough time and that we are leaving at 8:30. I wasn’t sure about this so I packed my bag as quick as I could and had a quick spew. Then Jaz came around knocking on everyone’s door saying we had 5 mins to be out. Heaps of people had slept in. I packed my bag made sure I didn’t leave anything and left. I wasn’t feeling the best. Carrying my bag to the bus which was a hike didn’t help me any either. I think after last night everyone new why this place was called Amster-damage.
We all made it to the bus worse for ware but we were all alive. We sat down the back but I couldn’t handle being near SJ anymore and had to sit up the front, I sat next to Ashoor who was sleeping as well so I just crashed out after tossing up in my head whether to be sick again or not. I held out and had a good nap. After my sleep I felt great I was reviatlised. It was the one time on the whole trip that I fell asleep for ages more than anyone so of course people took photos of me. I slept most of the way into Belgium until we stopped for lunch at Brugge (Belgium).
We had 2 hrs free to explore Brugge and get some lunch. I had a biky burger ( I don’t even know what it was) but it filled the void of no lunch and made me feel better. After that we walked around the town and bought souvenirs again. We had to get some chocolates, we bought a massive 60 pack ( the
chocolates were heaps good I ate most of them) before hopping back on the bus we all made a toilet break and I had to pay for my first toilet use dammit there was nothing free around. You have to pay for 99% of the public toilets in Europe, even in McDonalds. It can range from 5Euro cents to 1 whole Euro.
As the weather was heaps crap we all decided to watch Pulp Fiction which Daniel bought at one of the truck stops. We watched most of it to Calais. When we made it past customs and were allowed back into England, they only asked me how long I will be staying and I told them 2 years. Kieran got asked a thousand questions about if she was working ect. Ashoor got asked if he was a terrorist or had links to terrorist groups poor fella. We soon found out that our ferry was 2 hrs later due to the bad weather. It didn’t bother us much that allowed us to finish Pulp Fiction. We got driven onto the ferry when it did arrive as the passenger bridge could not be used due to the weather.
We said our good byes to Gav and Mav and Judy (the bus) and headed into the ferry. On the ferry we went to get some food as we didn’t know when we would be eating next. We sat in the bar and drank some beers with our food. Those who couldn’t handle the sea slept on the floor (like Kieran) or just closed their eyes in the lounge. We all swapped emails in case there was a problem with the email list Jaz sent out that and some of us wanted other phone numbers to meet back up in London with. We sat around and had a few beers and talked for most of the trip back.
We finally docked and made it in normal time, the sea was not that rough. Kieran will say different that they were very rough. When we made it to port we all gathered our stuff and headed out to the passenger plank where we almost blew off the side due to the really strong winds it was crazy. When we got down the bottom there was no bus waiting for us. We had to wait another 30 mins in the freezing cold crazy wind waiting for the bus. When the bus finally came we all chucked our bags in and hoped on. Kieran asked the driver if he was going past our place (because on our first day they went past our street) and could he stop and drop us off, he was not going that way so he couldn’t. We slept most of the way back into London. I was on the lookout to see if we were going near Kennington at all so we didn’t have to catch 2 trains back and then walk with all our crap.
The bus got to the hostel, everyone said their goodbyes. Kieran asked the driver if he could drop us near Kennington station as he was going back to Elephant & Castle (weird name for a suburb hey) which is close to it. He agreed so we had to leave with him. We chucked our bags in the bus and left. I spoke to the bus driver the whole way back. He was nice to give us the lift so I had to be nice and chat to him, he was alright to talk to but at some points I had to work out what the hell he was saying with his Scottish accent.
We finally made it to Marisa and Riches place around 11pm it had been a long day of travel and all we wanted was some sleep.
We had made some great friends, been to some wonderful places and had some awesome times. It was sad to see our tour over, now back to reality and life in London.
