Alton Towers

We went to Alton Towers one weekend in May with Nat and Pete, Aussies who we met over here through Mel. We drove up there. It was good to be back in a car again and to see the sights not in a bus or a train. Although a car window is almost the same but it is better trust me when u haven’t been in one for almost 7 months.

We started out early we left at 6:30 in the morning as we had a 3 hr drive and wanted to get in early at the park. We stopped off at McDonald’s as you always do early in the morning. I am a guy who likes a sausage and egg McMuffin they are gr8. The only problem is that the ones in England are made of pork not what ever the ones in Australia are made out of. They also aren’t as spicy and it tastes really weird. I make a point (for some bizarre reason and I don’t even know why) but I try maccas in all the countries I go to and this so far is the only thing that is always on the menus but tastes completely different.

So we had our maccas and headed back onto the motorway and out to Alton towers. We ended up getting there at 11am, had to park the car and then catch a monorail to the park entrance (yes its massive). We picked up our tickets, for both days (it was a 2 for 1 special in June so we decided to go for 2 days). As we had no idea of what to expect from the park we did not have such a good plan on what to go and see. With out little map in hand we attempted to see the rides we could.

The rides were awesome. As the park closed at 6 that night we all ran for one last ride. Even if the line took an hr, as long as you were in the line b4 the ride gates close at 6 then u are fine and can still ride so we all ran to the world worst idea RipSaw. The controller has control over water jets and decides how wet u can get. So we hop on the ride and the ppl who are on it with us are a whole group of Hens who want to get themselves and the bride to be really wet. Lets just say we came away with no dry spots at all it was like a massive shower. At least it was the last ride of the day and now we could go back to the car (walk back) and sit around.

We stayed nearby in a 6 sleeper caravan and for £20 a night each it wasn’t bad. Had a nice meal in their pub a few drinks, then off to bed for another early start to get in all the other rides we didn’t see the first day.

Got up and had our complementary full English breakfast and then went back to the park. This time we had a plan in hand and headed out to see all the rides we missed. It was an awesome second day we almost went on all rides but didn’t make it to a couple of them but we saw the ones we wanted to. The park closed at 5 on Sundays so we ran to get one last ride on “Rita the Queen of Speed”. We left the park and headed home, ended up getting back in at 11pm that night. It was a gr8 weekend.
