Manchester – 31Oct – 1st Nov

Football weekend

We had a weekend away to Manchester to watch Manchester United vs Blackburn Rovers football match as Kieran won the tickets through our bank. We decided

to catch the train up. It was cheaper to go first class both ways! It was really good we had nice comfy seats with free softdrink, tea, water and crisps there was even a first class lounge for us to wait in…it was all very nice.

We had trouble with the hotel reservation and had to go to sister hotel over the

road, it was a big malarkey which I won’t take you all through but after an hr and walking back and forth we finally got a room and for the correct rate. We missed the walking tour due to itL Update: due to all the issue and the hotel not acknowledging their fault they were removed from the website we booked through and we were refunded the deposit, win for the little guy

That Saturday night we went and watch the match, ManU won. It was a good atmosphere as we were in the family section. We saw people getting ejected a few times and they had really good security. It took ages to get back to the hotel but good fun to watch all the party goers on Halloween along the streets.

The next morning we checked out, had a nice breakfast over the road for £2 and not the £6 the hotel wanted to charge us. We then headed for the train station and put our bags in checked luggage for the day. After this there was no other walking tour so we were left with what to do on a Sunday in Manchester. So we headed out of town and went shopping to a giant Mall, Glen needed some new jeans and shoes. We had a nice lunch and then sprinter to get a bus back to town so we could check out our bags and get the train, it all worked rather nicely except for the bits of stress we had. We even had enough time to get to the first class lounge and get some chips and a coke before heading home on the train.
